A good translation project manager must have the ability, based on long experience, to discern a good translation from a poor one; develop relationships with the industries best translators in order to know their strengths and weaknesses; identify which translator has the precise background for each document to be translated, and; communicate with our clients honestly and effectively through the entire translation process.

It is also crucial that project managers posess superior linguistic skills themselves both to hone the talents of our expert team of translators through constant feedback, and to assist in maintaining strict quality control on all translations we do. Our team has these skills.

Glenn Cain founded yndigo translations in 2007 after ten years in the translation industry.  Having received his M.A. in French Literature in 1995 and a teaching fellowship in Paris the following year, he returned to New York in 1997 to pursue formal translation studies at NYU. This would lay the groundwork for his next post as translator and lead editor at Cravath, Swaine & Moore on two successive year-long projects.

The first required a fifteen-member on-site team to translate, edit and proofread boxes full of French board meeting minutes, financial reports, inter-office memoranda, e-mails, handwritten notes, etc., resulting in over 186,000 pages of translation!

The subject of the second project was metallurgy as it applied to aluminum aircraft wings, and the “systematic approach to terminology research encountered in his studies at NYU really came in handy” according to Glenn. In addition to the specialized dictionaries on hand, an expert metallurgist was consulted throughout the project. This was translation done right and this unique opportunity to work alongside his clients and learn their day-to-day translation needs as they applied to their case was an experience that would inform the rest of Glenn's career in language services.

At the conclusion of those assignments in 1999, he went on to work successively for two different New York based translation agencies. At the first, he served as an account manager for three years, handling projects in all languages for attorneys at some of America’s leading firms.

Then, at one of New York's largest translation agencies, he headed up the Legal Translation Services department where, over his five years in the position, he built a reputation among his clients and peers as a project leader who always found a solution to a complex job or tight deadline.

Now, with over ten years experience in the industry, Glenn is confident that, with his seasoned staff and select list of translators, he can offer reliable translation services to law firms at reasonable rates. In addition, he has the determination to treat clients, staff, and vendors at all times with respect and with a commitment to their mutual goals.

Glenn has lived in Park Slope, Brooklyn for ten years with his wife, Jennifer, and two boys, Nathaniel and Sebastian. Besides translation, he is passionate about cycling and French literature. His two boys share his passion for the former… not yet the latter, but at ten and eight years old, there’s still time!
